Chennai: Modern heritage is often misunderstood and considered an anomaly. The misconception associated with it is why a large part of architectural and cultural history may remain unrecorded. Anything built after 1947 is considered too modern to be conserved and this might well lead to a gaping hole in the history of architecture in the country, warned professor A G K Menon, founder-member of Indian National Trust of Art and Cultural Heritage (Intach) Delhi, during a lecture in the city on Friday.
